Winter Sports

This is my new Christmas image, Winter Sports. I was at an antique store recently and saw these skates hanging on the wall. I bought them for 15.00 and brought them home thinking that I could incorporate them in an image for my Christmas card. My neighbor, Tom, has the sled that his grandfather handed down to his father and then to him. I put the two together and came up with this. I hope you like it.
Winter Sports, Oil, 11x14

Three of a Kind progress

I know, I know, it doesn't seem like I have got very far, but a white horse is REALLY hard to paint. Trust me...

Three of a Kind

This pastel is of three horses from the Shearer Ranch of South Dakota. I love watching working horses do their "thing" and these are no exception. I think everyone needs a job, whether it be a dog, horse, or person. These three know what needs to be done and they know how to do it. There was a herd of cattle that were set loose so that we could photograph them and these horses stood at attention, waiting for the signal to get to work.
I have been working on this painting for some time now, and have been interrupted by travel and commissions. I hope to have it done soon, so keep checking back as I will be updating the progress daily.
